Happy that my boss is back last Monday after surviving 3 months without her ^^

Also, we've relocated to a new office last week... have my own new corner, new stylish tables, new phones, near the pantry, and a great view of KL right behind me... those are the pros...

now for cons, we got nearer to middle of the KL golden triangle and when we exit our building's parking, the traffic is even more terrible than before... and there's no where else to go because it's a 1-way street... The hunt for food got more complicated too... still hunting for a nice place :p

last week a great colleague left the company...

today is the last day of another colleague...

next week another great colleague of mine will be leaving...

happy that they will open another chapter in their life...

but sad that i will have to say goodbye to great friends...

have worked with them for so much, enjoyed so many ups and down, so many phone conversations, so many laughter, so many serious moments as well but all for the better...

Sunburn from Table Mountain

I went up the Table Mountain, Cape Town on 6th Feb 2011. As a result of not putting any sun-block, I've got really terrible sunburn from being on Table Mountain for 3-4 hours. I didn't realised that I would get this as the weather was really nice, cool, and breezy. After coming down from it, I went to the Waterfront, and realised that I look like a ripe tomato or even a lobster. Ed said I looked better, no longer pale =.=" but you know Asians, I don't want a tan! Sobs...

The next few days was hellish and it was extremely hot and itchy. I could tolerate the hot but not the itch. Terrible terrible itch! Sigh... Thank goodness the itch is now bearable.

And a couple of days later, my skin started to peel. Starting from my face, which was badly burnt! I thought I looked like some kind of alien. As of now, my face has stopped peeling, or should I say have finished peeling... but the skin on my neck and arms is starting to peel >.<

Lesson to be learnt, the next time I go for a trip, any trip, I need to remember to bring sunblock, hat, shawl, and maybe sunglasses and a small umbrella...

Well well well, I just realised that I haven't updated my blog for some time now and this would be only my second post this year, the first just posted just a short while ago. 2010 has been really interesting, filled with ups and downs, and hopefully more ups though.

I'm still working in the same company since October 2009 and I must admit although there are some 'hiccups', I still managed to survive. *Phew* Especially that mess which was passed to me in Oct 2010. Thank goodness things went fine, albeit with a lot of headache and staying back late in office just to make sure everything was alright. The perfectionist in me or being an OCD in certain ways prevented me from just doing an ok job and letting things through easily. And I have to thank my family, friends, colleagues, and my boss for supporting me and encouraging me to go ahead with what I think was right. The end result wasn't so great, there were disappointments in certain areas but these were beyond our control and we have done the best we could. I hope my team whom has worked so hard would not be disheartened and strive for the next one. Workload wise has certainly increased but I had already expected it and again, thankfully, everything managed to fall into place as I had wanted it to.

Travelling wise, it has been a not too bad year, getting to go to Bali, Singapore and the UAE and for 2011, I hope to go to more places. I just got back from Cape Town, which is just amazing and extremely interesting. It's such a beautiful place and hopefully I will have a bit of time to post the photos here. Moving on, I will also be going to Hong Kong this April and Japan in May. And hopefully, I can slot in a trip to Korea this year to visit my dear crazii ^.^

Gosh, it's now 14th Feb 2.45am. I should really be sleeping but I just can't. I'm feeling restless, my eyes still wide, and not a single yawn. Touched down KLIA at 10pm++ on Friday. Reached home and slept til 4pm on Saturday. And I haven't been able to sleep since. I thought I would be able to fall asleep easier tonight as it is way more than 24 hours since I last slept. What do I do? And I have to go to work tomorrow >.<

A brief update:

1. Raya is pretty much over, so are the public holidays. Next holiday is only on the 5th of November.

2. At work, who's here and who's not has dramatically changed over the last 1 year that I've been around, including my lil crazii who has left for greener pastures in Korea. In my department itself, there is only 2 person more senior than me and the rest are newbies. Life in office with these really nice people has been great though :) For me, it's the people around me that makes the office nicer. No office politics I swear! There is one thing I dread though, and it's the one thing everyone here dreads here but we still survive nicely with nice people around. Even my manager who has to glue our department in KL is super nice. Thanks GK!

3. With the PutraCD gang, I'm always happy and free from trouble when being with them ^^ I miss lil NT though coz she's the only one of the gang far away in SG.

4. OMG, I have sooooo many photos to upload T T

5. I'm waiting for my letter from crazy crazii... I'm getting so anxious for this, feeling like a kiddie who's waiting for chocolate ice-cream on a hot day! hehehee :p something like the 2-minutes delicious choco ice-cream with kit-kat balls and banana would be awesome right now ;)

just signing in to note that i'm feeling happy today... feeling calm and cheery... traffic was awesome (took me only half hour instead of the usual one hour)... weather was nice and cool this morning... it felt like i was walking in Autumn or Spring... reminds me of the days i was doing my internship in Romania... i miss so many people... great friends... those in romania, paris, spain, singapore, japan, and yes even those in Jln Ipoh, Abdullah Hukum apartment, Klang my home town, JB..... hahaha... Bank Customer Service

Banks are just so irritating today... I need to cancel my credit cards and i have NOT been able to get through... Maybank and CIMB are engaged this whole morning... AEON put me on hold for 3 freaking times, 10 minutes each time until I gave up hope and decided to email them instead... argh!!

The only bank I got though as of now is Hong Leong Bank, after choosing language and choosing the option of stolen credit cards (otherwise it takes forever to get through) and i finally confirmed that my credit card has been cancelled after sending in the cancellation request form 2 weeks ago.

My experience over the years has Alliance Bank at the top of my list for having the WORST customer service ever... I could never get through and would be put on hold forever until the part where no customer service is free to entertain you and they ask you to leave voice message and then when you start talking, a voice comes up and says, "We're sorry but our voice mail box is full. Please call back again later...!"

There is only ONE bank which has impressed me so far with their excellent customer service and guess which bank it is?!?! It's RHB Bank... where their motto is to simplify banking and so far they have kept to it. You call their customer service hotline and within 2 rings, a customer service representative would definitely pick up!! :) How great is that! And you don't have to go through stupid voices on the machine like all the other "irritating" banks :)

I hope all the other slow banks can improve their customer service soon... to RHB's impressive (so far) level of customer service. Bravo to RHB Bank!

So, my Romanian friend is doing her internship in Malaysia... her name is Alina... and her 2 friends recently came to Malaysia for 2 weeks to visit her... and we had a chat online... and we were talking about local fruits... so here's summary of the important stuff, funny:-

alina says: i made them buy strange fruits from the market
fruits they have never tried
we tried durian in SG
absolutely hated it!!!

passion fruit is good
and then ate another one...but we dont know the name
so 3 fruits we dont know name
1. medium sized potato
2. tastes watery...maybe like an apple, reddish colour

So i managed to get No. 2 and No. 3 right...

No. 2 is Jambu Air (Alina found out the translation is Rose Apple)

No. 3 is Jackfruit

but i really couldn't figure out what fruit looks like medium sized potato...so i asked her to describe more...

Yesterday on the way to work at Jalan Kuching just when i was almost reaching my office... there was 2 policemen chasing a 'guy' on the road at the same time pointing a gun at the 'guy'!! Shocking! It was a really bad traffic jam... all the cars at a stand still... with these 2 police running after this 'guy' right in front of me O.o

There was a small hill slope nearby and the 'guy' tried to climb up with both police behind... but yet the guy tried to escape... and i heard a gun shot! BANG!! but it missed and they continued after the small hill and i can't see what happened anymore... i wonder if the police managed to catch him...

It was my first time seeing a police chase :p and the first time i heard a gun shot right in front of me...

i came across this article today... seemingly true... because if not for the salary, people would have no motivation to work! (Source:The Star 27.8.2009)

i realised i didn't blog at all last month... so what's up with me? hmmmm... ponders and wonders...

1. i was at incovar for a day on 13 June to help out a lil... was fun... and peaceful... and glad to meet up with friends i haven't seen for a long time... :)

2. adrian & jenny got a baby... Ryan Wong Dzie Wei (hope i got the spelling right) so means i have a nephew now :)

3. i was at singapore on 25-28 June with Jamie, Jiann, Chang to visit Nicole... although singpore is the nearest country to where i'm staying, it was my first time stepping foot into singapore... good company, good fun! :)

4. went back to klang to celebrate daddy's day for dad... went out for dinner along with grandma... so all's cool :)

5. bought a small potted plant to put on my table in my office... shopping with jamie at ikea and said the plant would do me some good... :)

6. spent some time with good friends... :)

overall, lotsa happy times despite troubled times... hmmmm... i sound complicated... and for MJ, may you rest in peace... :(

There's been lots of changes last 2 months... some good, some not so good... the not so good is being stressful... there's been lotsa turnover these pass 2 months... and turnover means the remaining ones in the office have to take on more responsibility... there were 6 event managers, 3 left... 1 new came in... but between the 3 that left, with each of them have 3-4 events each, can u imagine the workload? >.< i normally have 1 event to finalise per month, at most 2... the last 3 weeks, i had to finalise 4 events... no easy task... but all finally went thru last Friday and i felt the heavy burden lift off into the space... i don't have to worry about it so much anymore, at least til the event date comes nearer... and guess wat? all these 4 events are back to back, 1 week after another... from last of July til the 3rd week of August... good luck to me! hahaha... let me laugh now and cry later...

Last Saturday night, i was suppose to attend P's wedding but had to cancel my plan bcoz a family member got admitted. Ended up in Tropicana Medical Centre from Sat morn til Sun afternoon... tiring especially after i stayed back til late at night on Friday night finalising my events... So, why am i mentioning this? Actually just wanted to comment about the hospital itself. I actually had a nice experience there, all the staff was just amazing and understanding... so helpful, always with a smile, which is what a real hospital should be! Doctors were great, nurses were great, front desk staff amazing... the environment clean and beautiful! So kudos to TMC :)

On another note, i was in Bandung from 16-19 May 09. Did lotsa shopping! shoppping always a great way to de-stress... :)))) and i'm planning to go to Singapore with the ACD gang end of next month... can't wait! :))) hehehehe... suddenly, i feel so happy writing this post, 1st paragraph just sound so moody... :p

How can someone change so much? How can one do a u-turn to become a total opposite? Why change into someone that goes against his/her principle in life? I mean if change for the better then it's ok. But what if it is change for the worse? Until he/she has to compromise her own belief and faith? Hmmmm....

Why does someone need to try so hard to be what other people want he/she to be? What is driving this person? Peer pressure? To be popular? To show someone that he/she is doing better? Doing things by following what others are doing and not knowing what he/she wants anymore shows that he/she is no longer anybody... In fact now, this person is becoming a nobody because this person is no longer original, no longer himself/herself... Hmmmm....

It's actually come to a stage it is looking pitiful because he/she is letting go all of her principles... well, i hope one day, he/she will look back and reflect what had happened and somehow change to being better...

So what if people ask you to do something? If you don't like it and if it goes against your own principle, then just don't do it... This may in turn let others admire you for you have a stand... It's always better to have your stand instead of just blindly following for the sake of fame and popularity because it won't last...Good luck to you...!

STRESSed with car... my car is in the hospital... a gal knocked into the back of my car 2 weeks ago at a traffic light.. she was obviously not paying attention or just following my car too closely... and i have been 'ding-dong-ing' with the police station, insurance, and workshop for the last 2 weeks... and still my car is at the hospital... if the next person knocks into me again, i will probably just curse and scream whoever that is... i won't be nice anymore... because who ask u not to pay attention when u are driving! so right now, just don't bother asking me what happened and what is the status because i am trying my very best here... just let me be...

I met Andreea when I was doing an AIESEC internship in Romania in 2005. Since then we have been keeping in touch and she mentioned that she would come to Malaysia when she had the chance. So, a couple months back, she went to India for a 1 year AIESEC internship and she said she was coming to Malaysia!!!

After months of preparation, she really really was in Malaysia! Andreea was in Malaysia on 8-12 October 2008... So here are a series of photos when she was here:-

Nothing much happened on Day 3... as we were to leave at 10am... or so... ^^

I checked out... and then we had a walk to view the conference room at TJR... and along the walks, i encountered many many monitor lizards or 'biawaks'... ewwww... i was practically grabbing the person nearest to me everytime i see one... *goosebumps*

Tanjung Jara Resort Day 2

We went to Tenggol island on the second day... blue blue sea... snorkeling... love it! :)

blue sea... i got sea-sick for the first time on the way back from the island :( but thank goodness i didn't puke... although almost :p best thing about this trip is I GOT TO SEA A BIG TURTLE!!! It was huge :))))))

Went back, rested a while... then it was 'cultural time'... whereby the guests got to see the sample local food... see a monkey climbing up a coconut tree and plucking coconuts and drinking freshly plucked coconut... a few local games like congkak... that's when my camera battery died...

Charged my batteries... and this is dinner at a chinese restaurant... which wasn't that great... bcoz the food was saltish... rumor was that the cook was getting married... and when we asked the lady if the cook was getting married, she said yes (O.o)

Tanjung Jara Resort Day 1

On 13-15 June 2008, I got the chance to go to Tanjong Jara Resort (TJR) with 7 other ladies from different companies. Aini, Aweena (host), Didi, Sarimah, Siti, Val, Zai and me!

We gathered on Friday morning at the Ritz Carlton for breakfast before spliting into 2 groups into 2 cars (i think it was Naza Ria) for the journey to Tanjong Jara, Terengganu. I was in the same car as Aini, Didi & Zai and we were laughing and talking most of the way about Bandung and ghost stories. Ha! Ghost stories? Strange but true.

Day 4 @ Bandung... Had not much time to do anything as we were to head off to the airport at 10am... there was a dim sum restaurant right beside our apartment and they had this big banner that said 50% discount! ^^ for everything that we ate, it only cost RM7 (US$2.20) per pax! will never get that price in Msia... imagine that! now you are really drooling... oops!

Ryu & Serene's Wedding 19.1.2008

On the 18.1.2008, I went to Raub, Pahang for a dear friend's wedding... I stayed over in the small rustic town as i was to 'shoot' some photos early next morning... as i had promised to Ryu very much earlier on :) It was the right choice as it was full of traditions... normally it's a lot simpler in cities... so a small town wedding was indeed interesting!

I must admit i made a mistake of taking biggie camera (Nikon D70) there as i was still not used to it and many photos didn't turn out nice. Luckily i took multiple shots with different setting and some turned out ok. Phew! The following are some of my favorite shots:-

I attended WeoiLi & LiJin's wedding on 19.11.07. Was a really '"grand" affair... :) And I got to meet long lost friends... Here are the long overdue photos...

I have been MIA for quite a while. Year end busy-ness and beginning of the year busy-ness. Fell sick on the first day of 2008. Took MC on the second day. What a start to this year. Last year for the record, I've never taken a single day on MC :)

Some interesting things that happened to me last year:-

1. Got myself a new car. Small little car, cute like me *ahem* in April.

2. Went on an adventure to Vietnam for 7 days in June-July!

3. Sent in my big white envelope and started a new job in July.

4. Became an official bridesmaid for Jenny in July.

5. Entered a competition by Samsung-TechARP and managed to get into the Top 8 list of bloggers entitling me to buy the latest Samsung SGH-L760 with a 70% discount.

6. Met Nina & Marijana from Slovenia in January and Naoki from Japan in November.

7. Got the "Nice Matters Award" from Niki.

8. My good friends got married. Weoili&LiJin and FookMing&Kim and Azlina&partner and Hakimah&partner. So happy for them :)

It has indeed been a good year. And hopefully this year will be better (^o^)

It was Sultan Selangor's birthday last Tuesday and it was a holiday for us! Yay! We decided to hit 1 Utama for a movie and chilin out after eating take-away Thai food which is delivered free to my house :) YumYum!

After watching Beowulf (is it spelt like that?), we were helping Whits' to hunt for some xmas pressies and we saw this cute head-gears at only RM3.90 (US$1) each! And of course took a few silly photos...

Meeting Naoki!

I got to meet Naoki from Japan for the second time last Thursday night :) He's down in Malaysia for a business trip. He's a really cool & funny guy and he's a close friend of Jason. They had known each other for many years... Jason meeting Naoki in Japan, Naoki meeting Jason a few times in Malaysia... a special bond! The last time I met Naoki was more than 2 years ago when he visited Sabah to see monkeys! Yeah, he loves monkeys! LOL! And at that time, he came together with his fiance, Chieko... a very nice & sweet girl.

Well, anyway, that night, we only got to meet each other for a couple of hours as he had to fly back to Japan. Jason & I brought him to eat Indian food, more of banana leaf type... because he loved it so much the last time he was here and he was literally craving for it :) Despite it being really spicy, he just chomped down everything... with lots of sweat trickling down.... haha... so cute! or should i say "hontoni kawaii!!!" <-- correct, Niki?? And of course with cold drinks by his side.

I have a new toy to play for a month! It's the latest Samsung SGH-L760, which is not yet released in Malaysia :) The coolest thing is that I can blog with this phone. Oh yeah!

Samsung SGH-L760, is marketed towards millions of bloggers in the world. According to Samsung spokesman, the Samsung SGH-L760 is compatible with Ublog and Buzznet platform. Besides that, it also allows you to upload videos to YouTube without using your computer.

The new SGH-L760 equipped with built-in 2MP camera and support Bluetooth as well.It weighs 93g. Therefore, generally, L760 is given a name called “3G Mobile Blog phone”. So, to capture an image or video, there must be a well built camera provided. Certainly, the L760 doesn’t miss this feature.

Vietnam, Hanoi : Day 7

~My final posting about my Vietnamese adventure~

After the 9 hours train ride, we reached Hanoi at about 5am and went straight back to our hotel for a short nap and shower. At about 7am, we went out to hunt for breakfast. And we found this corner, with many locals eating noodles. Straightaway, we decided to eat there. We have a few hours left before our flight...

It was a lil spicy and sourish but definitely delicious! Those two big red cubes are pork blood which i don't eat but my uncle loves it so i passed them to him. And i finished the rest and drank up all the soup :) YUM!

After hot soup was cold dessert. This was a glass of fruits with sweet milk and crushed ice in it. Love this as well :)

With just half hour remaining, we walked back to our hotel to collect our luggage and catch a cab back to the airport. And right in front of our hotel, we saw a young girl carrying lots of lychees and both my uncle & aunt suggested buying everything to fly it back to Malaysia because it's so cheap! As soon as we asked her, came her mum to her rescue. They are the 2 ladies wearing a hat in the photo. And the girl in pink shirt, a passer-by was there to interprete.

A photo of 22kg of lychees (5000Dong OR US$0.40 a kg) which we flew back to Malaysia!!! Incredible? Actually the weirdest experience for me...

Vietnam, Sa Pa : Day 6

The 2nd day at Sa Pa :-

The 2nd day at chilly Sa Pa started off with this delicious chocolate-banana pancake.

I had to rent boots because I left my shoes at Hanoi, cute looking purple boots for US$1 :) I only took the necessary items for Sa Pa and left the rest at the hotel baggage room...

While waiting, i received a phone call from office. Yeah, they had roaming services there using my boss's phone number... My boss actually gave me her card when i said i won't be contactable because i have no roaming services... Shouldn't have said anything... LOL!

Vietnam, Sa Pa : Day 5

After the 9 hours train ride, we finally reach Lao Cai, where we took a van (another one hour) to Sa Pa, Nothern Vietnam.... Sa Pa is nice, cool, a lil chilly but nice chill :) haha! Away from hot Hanoi...

As we walked through Cat Cat Village, we met this old-smiling lady weaving... According to our guide for the day, these tribes are self-sustained, meaning they have all they need in their village. The only thing they need from the market is salt. They plant their own paddy & vegetable. They also have meat from their chicken & pig. They even have fish from the river nearby.

Along the way, we saw this gourd that I've never seen it before...

Vietnam, Ha Long Bay : Day 4

On the 4th day, we left Cat Ba Island and go back to Hanoi to catch a train to Sa Pa!!

Walked back to the jetty to take us back to mainland... It's low tide so we had to climb down the ladder very carefully because the position moves with the waves... and then hopping from junk to junk to reach our junk.

I had to pose with these lychees. I ate lychees everyday in Vietnam. Why? Because it's super duper cheap compared to Malaysia! Only US$0.40 per kg!!! It was so cheap that my uncle and aunt decided that we transported 22kg back to Malaysia!!!!!!! Can u imagine that??? We carried 22kg of lychees to Malaysia -_-" (Photos of more lychees on last day)

On the 9 hours train to Sa Pa... My first time sleeping on a train... Couldn't sleep too well because i wasn't used to the moving train...

Vietnam, Ha Long Bay : Day 3

In the morning on day 3, we were sitting in a van for 2 hours to take us to Ha Long Bay. 'Ha Long' means 'dragon descending'. The bay was listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage.

The junk took us to visit one of the bay's most famous cave, 'Hang Thien Cung' or 'Grotto of the Heavenly Palace'... displaying sparkling stalactites & stalagmites...

I had the most pleasant dinner last evening...

Basically, one of my job is to do product training... and yesterday I went to Actually Thai for the training. I had 2 sessions there, and during the 1st session, the manager made me a glass of ice lemon tea. Mind you, it doesn't taste like the normal ice lemon tea. It just taste differently nice.

Then, midway through the 2nd session, one of the staff whom i had trained earlier on brought me a plate of hot, spicy noodles, with the wonderfull smell of lemon grass. I was really suprised as usually i would just 'come, train & go'. And she mentioned she went in and cooked it specially for me... How sweet ^^

So, right after the 2nd training session, I started having my 'dinner' there. Just after a few 'fork-full' of noodles, came dessert!!! It was Red Ruby... Gosh... Those red ruby is made of chestnut morsels in sweet coconut with lots of shreds of jackfruit in it served with crushed ice!! I managed to find an online recipe. Got a recipe on YouTube also :) One of these days, I shall try it.

6. I like to cook and so far my favorite is spaghetti... My mum is a great cook, she can cook Chinese, Malay, Indian, pasta, cake, dessert, almost everything... so i want to be at least half as good as my mummy...

7. I went for piano classes... and finished my Grade 8, practical and theory... but now those skills are rusty.... my favorite is Pachebel's Canon in D...

8. Last but not least, i don't like crowded places... like shopping malls on a weekend... don't know why...

Vietnam, Hanoi : Day 1

Here are a few photos of my Hanoi adventure. There were just the 4 of us this time around. It was free and easy, just doing anything we want anytime, anywhere :)

On the 1st day, we reached Hanoi in the evening, at approximately 7pm, local time. Upon reaching, our van from the hotel which we had booked earlier arrived. On time. Then it was an hours' drive back to our hotel.

Driving in Hanoi would the craziest thing to do, but still not as crazy as Beijing. People here just zig-zags everywhere. Red light, still drive. And it seems, according to the driver, if you were to blindfold yourself and cross the road, no one would drive over you and you can cross the road as safely as it can be. Incredible, eh? In Malaysia, if you do that, I guess that would be the end of the story, u know what I mean?

We stayed at Bodega Hotel. Cost us only US$20 for a night for the 4 of us. And it was a huge room with an extremely nice bathroom (includes a bathtub) for that price :))))

After checking in, we went straight looking for food. We found this lady on the roadside selling delicious 'duck noodles with bamboo shoots'. And it's DELICIOUS!!! This big bowl of noodles and the glass of ice-green-tea cost US$1.

It's been exactly a month since I blogged. An extremely hectic month. Was in Hanoi for a week. The following weekend was the interesting wedding where I got to be bridesmaid on 07/07/07. Then worked my last 2 weeks in my previous company. 1 day break and then started with a new job. So many photos. So excited about my new job. So much to write. Hehehe... I'll find the time to post them up soon, I promise :) Adios!

I'm in Hanoi now... :D So far, so great!!! First thing I noticed was the traffic. It's crazy traffic but still not as crazy as Beijing. No one bothers about traffic lights. There's motorcyclist everywhere. No one wears helmet. And everyone honks all the time. Everyone just criss-crosses each others way. Had to watch out for motorcyclist coming from all directions! When I go back to Malaysia, I'm sure the roads will feel very quiet :)

Food has been great!!! Sorry, no photos for now. Will post it up when I come back. I had duck noodles and clams for dinner at the roadside. Delicious! And very affordable.

Hehehe... I'm just so relaxed here. Just what I needed... A break from work. Which brings me to say, I have tendered resignation. I got a much better offer elsewhere :) And I will start at the new company on the 20th July as a Project Coordinator. YAY!!! A fresh change... Hopefully all goes well for me. Cheers!
